Michel Boivin, connu sous le nom d’artiste MB King, est originaire de Ville de La Baie au Saguenay. Issu d’une famille de musiciens, il commence sa carrière musicale à 16 ans en tant que bassiste dans un groupe de rock lourd avec ses amis. À 18 ans, son attention se tourne vers les légendes du blues américain. Il décide alors de se mettre à la guitare, entamant ainsi une épopée musicale.

MB King intègre le groupe de blues William Street Blues Band qui se produira à deux reprises au Festival International de Jazz de Montréal dans les années 80, ainsi que lors de nombreux autres événements de grande envergure. Ils ont eu l'honneur de partager la scène avec la légende du blues Big Mama Thornton. Par la suite, ils ont été invités par Dutch Mason, surnommé le Premier Ministre du Blues, et par le regretté Briand Lee.

Michel propose un répertoire varié. Ses interprétations, tirées du blues, sont exécutées à sa manière unique sur sa guitare acoustique. Il se produit en tant que "one man band", avec un son qui lui est propre. Michel Boivin, known by his stage name MB King, is originally from Ville de La Baie in Saguenay. Coming from a family of musicians, he began his musical career at age 16 as a bassist in a heavy rock band with his friends. At 18, his attention turned to the legends of American blues. He decided to take up the guitar, thus beginning a musical epic.

 

MB King joined the William Street Blues Band, which performed twice at the Montreal International Jazz Festival in the 1980s, as well as at many other major events. They had the honor of sharing the stage with blues legend Big Mama Thornton. They were later invited by Dutch Mason, nicknamed the Prime Minister of Blues, and the late Brian Lee.

 

Michel offers a varied repertoire. His interpretations, drawn from the blues, are performed in his own unique style on his acoustic guitar. He performs as a “one-man band,” with a sound all his own. "All I want is to promote this style of music, which is the foundation of American music, as legends such as Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Junior Wells, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, and BB King did before me.
